This Naval Architecture business was established in 1992 by Iain Macleod. Iain gained his initial shipbuilding experience in the former British Shipbuilders shipyards of Scott Lithgow, Govan
and Hall Russel.
After graduating as a naval architect, he then went on to lecture in Naval Architecture at Strathclyde University, before becoming a Ship Surveyor with Det Norske Veritas, supervising the
construction of new ships. Scince Iain comes from a Gaelic seafaring background in Kyle of Lochalsh in the North West of Scotland, it was natural to locate there, given the nature and speed of today's
communications. Our location is not a problem, as we regularly travel throughout United Kingdom and Ireland, and are
well placed for the North Sea, fishing and fish farming industries. From our modern drawing office in Kyle of Lochalsh we offer a comprehensive ship design service utilising the latest computer and information technology tools.
Our extensive client base range from the owners of small leisure craft such as rowing boats and yachts through the full range of fishing boats, tugs and workboats to large foreign going
ships.
With the aid of the latest computer software we can measure a ship or boat on a slip or drydock and quickly produce detailed plans and boat designs. This is very useful for the vessel owner
scince much useful data essential to the safety and registry of the vessel can be gleaned from such measurement.
